đ U.S. Surgeon General says Parents, We're Not OK
So, What Can We Do? Start with these baby steps... đŁ
Itâs all over the news. Last week, the U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory that just confirmed what we've all been feeling - parenting today is TOUGH. Like, âjuggling flaming chainsaws while riding a unicycleâ tough. But guess what? Itâs not just you, and itâs not just me. Weâre ALL in this messy, beautiful, exhausting boat together.

So, What Can We Do?
(Besides hiding in the bathroom with dark chocolate)
a) Lower Those Expectations

Repeat after me: âI don't have to be Super Parent.â It's OK if your kid eats cereal for dinner sometimes. Or if you forgot it was âBring Your Pet Rock to Schoolâ day. Weâre doing our best, and thatâs enough.
b) Time Audit
Delete a social media app or at least put a timer on it! (I donât think the fridgescaping posts will miss you)
c) Simplify kidsâ activities
Itâs okay if your kids miss a few activities, they donât have to do back-to-back birthdays in one weekend!
d) Ask for HELP
It does take a village to raise a child, so ask your community for help. Take up your kind neighborâs offer to watch your child so you can take that much needed break.
e) Nature is Free Therapy
Even 15 minutes outside can work wonders. Bonus: kids tire out faster in fresh air!
f) Self-Compassion is Key
Be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend. You wouldn't call them a failure for yelling once, right? Extend that same grace to yourself.
Remember, weâre all in this together. The next time you see a frazzled parent at the grocery store, give them a knowing nod, or a commiserating smile. And hey, if this newsletter resonated with you, why not share it with a fellow parent who might need a reminder that they're not alone in this wild ride? Sometimes, just knowing others are going through the same thing can be a huge comfort.
