The Truth About Mother's Day: Myths vs. Reality

With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, I just want to give all you moms a little tip: Keep those expectations low! 😂

Let’s take a look at our expectations vs. reality ….

1. Breakfast in Bed: 💐Fantasy vs. Reality

• Fantasy: A perfectly orchestrated breakfast in bed, complete with fresh flowers and your favorite read.

• Reality: Cold toast, half-spilled orange juice, and your kids arguing over who gets to deliver the meal. Oh, and the dog already ate your bacon. 🐶

2. Handmade Gifts: 💟Cherished Keepsakes or Future Clutter?

• Fantasy: Precious, handcrafted tokens of love that you’ll treasure forever.

• Reality: A macaroni necklace that falls apart as soon as you touch it and a clay ashtray even though you don’t smoke.

3. Mother's Day Cards: Heartfelt or Hilarious? 🤣

• Fantasy: Beautiful, heartfelt cards filled with sincere expressions of love and gratitude.

• Reality: A card with a crayon drawing of you with a giant body and tiny head, and a message that reads, "Thanks for making me food and stuff."

4. Day Off from Mom Duties: 🌈 Dream or Delusion?

• Fantasy: A whole day where you don't have to lift a finger, and everyone else takes care of everything.

• Reality: You still have to break up fights, find lost toys, and figure out a restaurant for dinner, all while everyone keeps asking, “Where’s Mom?”

5. The Mother's Day Nap 🛏️: Longed-For or Interrupted?

• Fantasy: A long, uninterrupted nap in the middle of the day.

• Reality: Just as you drift off, your kids burst in with urgent questions like, “Where’s the tape?” or “Can we have a pet snake?”

Final Truth: Despite the chaos, laughter, and minor mishaps, Mother’s Day is a celebration of all the little things that make motherhood so special. So, here’s to all the imperfectly perfect moms out there – you’re doing an amazing job, and that’s the real truth!
