Hi,
You know that moment when your kid says "I'm bored" and you panic a little?
Weβve talked about boredom before but not about parental doubts it creates. You start thinking should they be in sports? Or something else, how much is too much? Will they regret this later?
We overthink this because nobody's really showing us the path. We figure it out as we go.
That's where I was in November 2019.
I had two kids, ages 6 and 4. At that curious age where they wanted to try everything but didn't know what they actually liked.
I kept thinking: How do I let them explore without forcing it? How do I try new things without dropping $200 on equipment they might use once?
So I launched a company selling sports boxes for little kids. Think subscription box, but instead of snacks, you get everything you need to try a new sport. A baseball bat, a soccer ball, game cards, coaching guides, everything. For ages 3-6.

The boxes started selling slowly. Small orders trickling in from parents who wanted their kids to explore, to try things, to figure out what they loved before committing to one path. Parents who didn't want to spend a fortune or pressure their kids into specialization at age 6.
It made sense. It was affordable, low-pressure and every month, a new sport.
Then COVID hit.
WHEN COVID HIT, EVERYTHING CHANGED
January 2020, I had a random idea.
What if parents who bought the boxes could also get virtual coaching for their kids? You order a baseball box, you connect with a coach online, your kid learns from home.
I put it on the website late January. March 2020. Schools closed. Parks closed. Everyone was stuck at home and then we had 100 orders in one week.
I was waking up at 3, 4 AM. Packing boxes in our basement before my kids woke up. Shipping them out, then immediately pivoting to make sure my kids got to their virtual school classes. By day, managing virtual coaching sessions with families desperate to keep their kids engaged. By night, packing more boxes.
My husband helped me find trainers he'd worked with professionally, people stuck at home with nothing else to do. So we built a system: families bought the box, got the equipment, then joined virtual coaching sessions with real coaches. Free. Because it was COVID, and everyone needed something.
In all of this, one thing became clear.
Parents didn't just need sports equipment. They needed support and community. They needed someone to tell them that they weren't alone in the chaos of managing kids, school, work, and life during a pandemic.
Itβs also when I realized: The boxes were never the point. The point was this, what I'm doing right now. Showing up and being honest. Creating a space where parents could breathe and know someone else was in the mess with them.

FROM BOXES TO THIS NEWSLETTER
The box business still exists. I don't really publicize it anymore, but if someone finds it and orders, I still fulfill those boxes.
You can know more about them here
I always wanted to build a space for parents- managing kids, work, expectations, guilt. So I started this newsletter.
I don't have all the answers. But I know what it feels like to need permission to say no, to prioritize differently, to be honest about what you can actually handle.
It's that conversation we parents needed to have but couldn't find anywhere.
This newsletter only works if it's real. If it's honest. If it reflects what actual parents are actually dealing with.
Every issue comes from real conversations and moments where parents think: "Wait, is this normal? Am I the only one?" The answer is usually no. You're not alone.
