Energy Drinks: A New Poison for Kids?

A recent report shows a 24% increase in energy drink-related calls to poison control centers from 2022 to 2023. America's Poison Centers received 2,694 calls about energy drink exposures in people under 20. Shockingly, kids aged 6-12 had the largest increase, often unintentionally consuming these caffeinated beverages.

Remember: Energy drinks like PRIME, and even some Starbucks and Dunkin’ offerings, can be dangerous for young hearts. Let’s stick to good old H2O, shall we?

Influencers like Big Little Feelings and Dr. Becky have us all striving to be zen masters of child-rearing. But let's be real - it's exhausting! As Christine Organ wrote on Motherly, "No matter what we do, it feels like we're getting it wrong."

Remember, parents: It's okay not to be perfect. As one wise soul on What To Expect said, expecting to "get it right every time" just isn't feasible. So take a deep breath, do your best, and maybe treat yourself to that pumpkin spice beverage.

Parents, before you panic about keeping the kids busy, here’s a pro tip: Make a family bucket list! Sit down together and brainstorm 10+ activities. Some ideas to get you started:

  2. Backyard camping (or living room fort-building for the indoor types)

  3. Create a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood

  4. Go for a hike or walk in the gorgeous Fulton County trails (Top 20 trails here)
