How I’m Thinking About Parenting This Year

Editor’s note- what I want to write more about, and where Parenting Pitch is headed

Hi there,

January never really feels like a clean slate. Most parents I know are still tired, still traveling, still getting over being sick, or still trying to get everyone back into some kind of rhythm.

So this is not a New Year, new you note.

It is just a pause before everything speeds up again.

Why Parenting Pitch exists

There is no shortage of parenting advice. Every week there is a new rule, a new fear, or a new thing parents are supposed to fix immediately.

That noise makes it harder to think clearly.

Parenting Pitch exists to slow that down. To help parents step back, notice patterns, and make decisions that actually fit their families instead of reacting to the loudest headline.

That is the kind of writing I want to keep doing.

What I want to write more about this year

One thing I keep coming back to is physical activity in kids. Not performance and not pressure, but movement as part of childhood.

I want to talk more about how sports, play, and how physical activity shapes confidence, regulation, and resilience. Not from a competitive angle, but from a developmental one.

This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately, and it is an area where I want to go deeper this year.

What else you can expect

You will still see parenting topics that feel familiar. Behavior, emotions, screens, and family dynamics are not going anywhere.

But I also want to add more practical guides that parents can actually use and keep. Things you can return to when you need them.

I also want to bring in more timely conversations about what is happening around us. Not to chase news, but to help parents think through it. When something affects how kids grow up, it is worth talking about.

This is not a broadcast…

This newsletter is not meant to be one way.

If you are reading this, your time matters. I want to write about the things that feel most relevant to you, not just what performs well.

Before we fully jump back into the year, I would love your input.

Before we jump back into the year

My goal is for Parenting Pitch to feel like a place where parents can slow down, think clearly, and leave with something useful, even during busy or overwhelming weeks.

That is the standard I am holding myself to.

A very Happy New Year to all the parents reading, and supporting us.

Cheers
Lakshmi 💛
