From Bored to Board: Recommendations for Fun Family Games

Is "za" a valid Scrabble word (spoiler alert: it is) 😂

Recently, I stumbled upon an old Monopoly set in the basement, and I remembered all the fun times I had with my brothers when we played it all summer. Board games have evolved so much over time. Today’s games are so well-crafted and well-thought-out that they help teach kids teamwork, decision-making, logic, creativity, and communication.

My kids loves board games, and we try to have regular family game nights. I love watching my kids’ eyes gleam when they are about to beat me at Uno or when my son has to draw a microscope in Pictionary.

But I'll be honest, finding games that make everyone happy is like finding the path to El Dorado! And while games like Candy Land soon lose their charm for an 8-year-old, it becomes hard to buy new games every time. And so, I have a set of criteria for the optimal family game. It should be:

🎲 Fun for grown-ups and kids of a wider age group

🗲 Quicker to set up than your morning coffee routine

⏸️ Easier to pause than your Netflix binge

🔎 Appealing to all players with a wide range of interests

However, finding a single game that satisfies your teen niece and visiting Aunt Anita might seem impossible. But, here are 5 games that our family and friends absolutely love!
